Considering the path to becoming a dyslexia specialist? Start here. Basic Language Skills (BLS) is the comprehensive, intensive Structured Literacy curriculum at the heart of the Dyslexia Specialist Preparation Program (DSPP).

Once you complete the DSPP requirements, including coursework, practicums, and documented teaching experience, you become eligible to take the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) Competency Exam at the Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) or Certified Academic Language Practitioner (CALP) level.
