Written Composition: Revision for CEU Credit

In Written Composition: Revision, participants learn to guide young writers through revising their own writing — one of the most difficult tasks in the writing process — across four areas: organization, clarity, content, and flow. Each lesson focuses on a single aspect of revision, using mentor texts to model literary elements such as figurative language, word choice, voice, character development, tone, and sentence complexity.

Audience: Grades 4 and up teachers.

Details: Runs 12 hours, on-demand. To receive credit, participants must submit a pre- and post-writing sample for evaluation by a Neuhaus instructional staff member.

Participants leave with a lesson-by-lesson framework for teaching revision as a discrete, teachable skill, addressing organization, clarity, content, and flow through literary elements such as figurative language, word choice, voice, character development, tone, and sentence complexity.
