Comprehension is the whole point of reading, and it can be taught. This module explores the foundational skills and strategies that help students truly understand what they read.

In this module, you will:

• Examine the foundational skills of comprehension: oral language and world knowledge
• Learn how to build depth of language and world knowledge in students
• Learn the roles of grammar, inferencing, and other variables in comprehension
• Learn effective strategies and best practices for improving comprehension
