Defining Dyslexia

In Defining Dyslexia (DD), participants explore models of literacy acquisition, characteristics of dyslexia and related learning differences, evidence-based components of dyslexia instruction, and appropriate accommodations. Participants examine how dyslexia is identified, what effective intervention looks like, and how to distinguish accommodations that support access from shortcuts that don't build underlying skills.

Audience: Leaders, caregivers, and educators interested in or responsible for at-risk students or students with dyslexia. Not appropriate for those who have completed Basic Language Skills.

Details: Runs 3 hours (half day), available in person, live virtual, or on-demand. Curriculum-agnostic.

Participants leave with a working understanding of dyslexia and related learning differences, the evidence-based components of dyslexia instruction, and appropriate accommodations.
