Developing Accuracy & Fluency

In Developing Accuracy and Fluency (DAF), participants learn to assess students' reading fluency and prosody, and provide targeted instruction to improve reading fluency. Participants learn to distinguish fluency problems rooted in decoding from those rooted in rate or expression, and practice techniques — such as repeated reading and phrase-cued text — matched to each.

Audience: 1st–5th grade teachers, and teachers of students who need to improve reading fluency; may also be appropriate for students outside that grade range.

Details: Runs 3.5 hours, on-demand. Curriculum-agnostic. Includes a lesson plan template and sample lessons.

Participants leave with information and evidence-based instructional strategies — not a scope-and-sequence or curriculum.
