Looking for an app to help kick-start your children to become better writers? Kids will write about things they are curious about or are interested in. Write About This is a noteworthy app you might consider exploring.  This creative writing app allows multiple users access to numerous writing prompts and uses pictures as inspiration. Its versatility and ease of use make this a favorite among children of all ages.  Additionally, users have the option of changing the complexity, removing text prompts, and searching by topic and image. Students can write a story and record their narration which saves as a QuickTime movie.

Write About This is finding its way into the home, becoming a great inspiration tool for writing with family iPads.  It can be used anytime and anywhere the creative writing bug is ignited. Personal works may be shared digitally by email or saved in the gallery or camera roll.  There is a free version with limited prompts or for $3.99 a full version which several prompts appear per category. For each visual there are 3 levels that can allow for teacher differentiation.  The full version is Common Core aligned with 375 prompts carefully selected and written by teachers.  When used in the classroom setting, student portfolios can be created by using custom avatars and students’ work can be saved.  A search of content can be explored by interest, curriculum, season or theme.  Personal photo images may even be uploaded to create new exciting prompts that give voice to writers.

So the question begs an answer:  What will you write about?
