Basic Language Skills - Advanced

 
 
Location: Onsite  Class is at Neuhaus Education Center.
Topics: advanced, intensive, and comprehensive instruction for students with dyslexia and other related disorders (instruction includes phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, oral language, comprehension, composition)
Audience: Reading/Dyslexia Specialists, teachers of Tier III intervention
Hours: 60 hours + 5.5 hours (10 days at Neuhaus + 1 follow-up day at Neuhaus)
Fee: $1115
Materials: two Secure Reading Decks
Prerequisite: Basic Language Skills - Introductory class and follow-up classes; Multisensory Grammar; Developing Metacognitive Skills; teaching through Basic Language Skills concept 63; purchase Basic Language Skills - Book 2
 

 
Cost of classes will not be discounted based on prior materials purchases.
 
Registration: Registration and payment must be received seven (7) days prior to the first day of an on-site class and fourteen (14) days before the first day of an online class.
 
Cancellations: Class fees are nonrefundable. If cancellation is necessary, you must give seven (7) days notice in order to transfer these fees to another like class on a future date. After the seven-day cancellation period, the tuition fee is nontransferable.
 
Materials: In the event that a registered participant is unable to attend the class, it is the participant's responsibility to acquire materials from Neuhaus Education Center. Materials will be available for a period of 30 days after the class.

Location: Onsite  Class is at Neuhaus Education Center.
Topics: systematic teaching of the skills needed for successful reading (e.g., phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, oral language, comprehension, composition)
Audience: teachers of first, second, and third grades; Tier II intervention
Hours: 30 hours (5 days at Neuhaus)
Fee: $780
Materials: Language Enrichment manual, The Colors and Shapes of Language manual and CD, Developing Accuracy and Fluency manual and CD, Scientific Spelling manual, Initial Reading Deck, Multisensory Teaching of Basic Language Skills Activity Book

Info Session

A free information presentation on reading difficulties, especially dyslexia; multisensory, research-based instruction; and the Texas dyslexia legislation is offered at the Center from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on designated Wednesdays and Saturdays.  The presentation includes information on resources available at Neuhaus and in the community.  Parents, educators, and other professionals can benefit from this presentation.
