Neuhaus has long believed that a knowledgeable and skilled teacher of reading is the best prevention of reading failure. During the 2011-2012 school year, Neuhaus provided professional development to more than 2500 teachers, reading specialists, and principals at Houston Independent School District. The overarching goal of the initiative was the improved literacy achievement of students in general education classrooms as well as of students with dyslexia or other reading disabilities.
